Free exhibition at the Framework Knitters Museum exploring the surprising link between Nottinghamshire cricket and framework knitting.
This exhibition looks at how professional cricket from the mid-nineteenth century right up to the First World War was dominated by Nottinghamshire men, largely because of the county's strong tradition of framework knitting. Many of the era's stockingers, as framework knitters were commonly known, were also cricketers, and the exhibition explores the connections between these two very different Nottinghamshire trades. It runs at the Framework Knitters Museum in Ruddington and is free to visit, making it an easy addition to a day out exploring the museum's history of the knitting trade.
