An exhibition inside Chatsworth House showing treasured written works from the Devonshire family's collection, spanning four centuries.

House of Stories: Tales from the Chatsworth Library is a 2026 exhibition inside Chatsworth House. Across four centuries the Devonshire family has read, collected and championed great writing, and this exhibition shares their most treasured works for the first time. It runs from 21 March 2026 to 4 October 2026 as part of a visit to the house. The exhibition sits alongside Chatsworth's usual offering of house, garden and farmyard, making it easy to build into a wider day out on the estate. There's also a related event on 2 October 2026, Celebrating House of Stories, bringing together academics, writers and curators for a day of conversation inspired by the exhibition.
