Observatories & Planetariums in Brighton
If you want a proper telescope dome rather than a screen, it's a longer trip out to Herstmonceux for the Observatory Science Centre & Museum. Tickets start from £13 and it's built for ages 0 to 16, with a science playground and water play areas alongside the domes themselves, so you can easily fill half a day there. There's only the one place in this category near Brighton, so the choice is really about how you plan the visit rather than which venue to pick. It's outdoors, so a dry day makes a difference, and there's a cafe and picnic spots if you'd rather bring your own lunch. Blue badge parking and an accessible toilet are on site, and dogs are welcome too. Younger children will enjoy the science playground as much as the astronomy.
