Cinemas in Belfast

Belfast's two cinemas are both close to the centre and both take the film seriously. Queen's Film Theatre screens a proper mix of arthouse and independent titles, with tickets from £6 and a bar for a glass of wine before or after. The Avenue Cinema has a licensed café and bar too, plus sensory friendly and subtitled screenings each week, which makes it the one to pick if bright lights and silence during the trailers matter. Both are indoor, wheelchair accessible and take card payments, so weather is not a factor either way. If price matters, QFT's £6 start is worth knowing. If you need a calmer screening for a child who finds the cinema overwhelming, the Avenue's sensory friendly showings are the better bet. Neither is a long trip, so it comes down to what is on and what kind of afternoon you want.
