Free-entry restored windmill, science centre and garden in Nottingham, climb the mill (when not under repair), try science experiments, and let the kids run round the community garden.

Green's Windmill is a restored and working 19th century tower windmill in Sneinton, Nottingham, once owned by mathematician George Green. Entry is completely free to the museum, science centre, shop and community garden. Kids can normally climb the windmill to see how grain becomes flour and enjoy views over the city, though the windmill building is currently closed for repairs from 3rd November 2025 (expected to reopen November 2026), during this time the interactive Science Centre and award-winning garden remain open as normal. The Science Centre is hands-on, letting children experiment with light, electricity and magnetism inspired by George Green's own discoveries, good for a wet-weather visit since it stays open regardless of the windmill works. The community garden has veg and flower beds, a wildlife pond, a glasshouse and a stone oven, and is free to wander round. There's a small shop selling the windmill's own organic stoneground flour and souvenirs. For a special occasion, the venue runs staff-led baking birthday parties (pizza, bread, or biscuit making) lasting about 2.5 hours for up to 15 children, priced at £160, plus science centre time and party favours. School sessions for nursery to KS1 pupils are also offered, and there's a function room available for hire. The venue also runs school-holiday events, workshops and seasonal fayres throughout the year. Set on Windmill Lane in Sneinton, Nottingham (postcode NG2 4QB).
