Dj Kool Kids

What it’s like
A DJ turns up with lights and a full disco set to run the party games, dance routines and pass the parcel so you don't have to.
This is a hire-in party service rather than a venue: a DJ entertainer comes to your hall or house with a proper disco rig and runs the whole thing. Expect dance routines, competitions, pass the parcel if you go for the two-hour slot, and sweet prizes handed out along the way. There's also Art in the Dark, axe throwing parties, school discos and character visits including Dino The Dinosaur, if a straight disco isn't quite the brief.
You still supply the food and the cake, and you're on host duty for the hellos, the goodbyes and the party bags. Everything else, the games, the lights, the birthday song, gets run by them. Parties come in 1-hour or 2-hour formats, and sharing a slot with another birthday child is an option if you want to split the cost.
Pricing isn't fixed. It moves with where you are, which package you pick, how long you book for, how many children are coming and whether the room's up a flight of stairs, so you'll need to give them those details to get a real number. A £25 deposit locks the date in, and it's worth sorting sooner rather than later, they mention dates go quickly, especially weekends in term time.
One thing to get right first: book the DJ before you book the hall. Their own advice is that good entertainers are harder to find than good venues, so if you've not settled on a room yet, that's the order to do it in.

Plan your visit
How much does a party cost?
There's no flat rate, it depends on location, the package, how long you book for, numbers attending and whether the venue's upstairs. You'll need to give them your details for a quote.
Do we need to book ahead?
Yes, and they say dates fill up quickly, so don't leave it to the last fortnight. A £25 deposit secures your slot.
Do they bring the equipment?
A full disco and light show comes with them. Music is chart and movie soundtracks, checked to be child friendly.
What do we need to sort ourselves?
Food and the birthday cake are down to you. You'll also handle the hellos, candle-blowing and handing out party bags, they run everything in between.
