Coventry's Black History Month programme runs throughout October 2026 with talks, art and a quiz night.
Coventry City Council's Black History Month programme runs across the city through October 2026, with a run of individual events rather than one single happening. On 16 October there's Sip and Paint from 6-9pm at Elle's, Two Friargate, a beginner-friendly workshop mixing art, mocktails and a live DJ, aimed at adults and needing a place booked in advance. On 24 October, Priory Visitor Centre hosts a screening of "Beach Inna Bondage: The Fight for Jamaica's Coastline" from 4-6pm, followed by a panel discussion with contributors joining from Jamaica, open to everyone and bookable ahead. On 28 October, Creative Roots takes over Market Way in the city centre from 12-4pm, a family-focused outdoor art and craft event with African and Caribbean-inspired activities, masks, face painting and henna; no booking needed, just turn up. The programme closes on 31 October with a Quiz Night and Open Mic from 3-6pm at The Box, FarGo Village, combining Black history and culture quiz rounds with live music, poetry and spoken-word, open to everyone and bookable in advance. Everything in the programme is free. Note the venue listed as "War Memorial" doesn't match any location named in the official programme details, which point instead to venues across Coventry city centre including Elle's, Priory Visitor Centre, Market Way and The Box at FarGo Village.
