Steam and diesel engines run at Nottingham Industrial Museum on Steaming Days, with volunteers on hand to explain the machinery.
Steaming Day is when Nottingham Industrial Museum fires up its working steam and diesel engines, alongside the Victorian kitchen, blacksmith's forge and woodworking shop. The museum's galleries cover Nottingham's railway, bicycle, motorcycle, lace, telecommunication, pharmaceutical and tobacco industries, with famous names such as Raleigh, Brough, Players, Boots, Humber and Reader featured throughout. Volunteers run the museum and the events, so there's always someone on hand to talk through what's on show. The museum is based in the Stable block of Wollaton Hall and Deer Park, near the cafe, with plenty of parking available. It's normally open every weekend, plus Thursdays and Bank Holidays, and there's a charity shop, the Treasure Trove, on site too.
