A Formidable Force

A new exhibition of rarely-seen artworks from the fine art collection, all inspired by water.

Lancaster Maritime Museum's fine art collection holds far more works than can usually be displayed, and this exhibition brings a selection of them out of storage. A Formidable Force gathers pieces united by the theme of water, looking at how it has inspired artists over the years. It runs from 31 October 2026 to 14 February 2027 at Lancaster Maritime Museum, giving plenty of time to drop in and see paintings and drawings that don't normally get an outing.
