Ages 8+

A structured school museum visit for P4+ classes exploring money through hands-on coin and banknote activities.

This is a school booking, available on Thursdays from 10am to 12:15pm for classes of up to 33 learners aged P4 and above. Before the visit, schools receive a pre-visit video learning resource and free handling materials so pupils arrive already curious about unusual forms of money from around the world. On the day, learners split into three groups and rotate through three activities: Heads and Tails, where they learn how coins were made and strike their own replica medieval coin; Design a Banknote, where they investigate security features before designing their own note; and Kists and Keys, which explores museum highlights around how banks and individuals have kept money safe over time. Teachers should contact the museum to book and to discuss how the visit can be tailored to their group's curriculum needs.
