Discover: Jurassic Yorkshire Workshop

Free pilot KS2 workshop at the Yorkshire Museum exploring Mary Anning and Yorkshire's Jurassic marine reptiles and dinosaurs.

Schools can book this free pilot workshop for Key Stage Two pupils at the Yorkshire Museum, exploring the Jurassic period through the work of Mary Anning. Pupils handle real objects from the museum's collections and use rocks and fossils to learn how Yorkshire's marine reptiles and dinosaurs were adapted to their environments, then make their own fossil cast from clay to take home. Sessions run 10am to 12.15pm, with a maximum group size of 34 pupils per workshop. There is no charge for this pilot, and participating groups also get free entry for a self-guided visit afterwards if they wish. Booking is via the online form on the museum's website, on a first-come, first-served basis; a booking is not confirmed until the team follows up. For enquiries, contact schools@ymt.org.uk or call 01904 650348.
