Talks, Lectures & Author Events in Bristol
If you like an evening where you learn something, Bristol and Bath both do well here. Bristol Folk House on Park Street is the closest option, an adult education venue that mixes author talks with live music and comedy, and there's a scratch-cooked café if you want to make an evening of it. A drive out to Bath, the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution runs proper lectures for grown-ups alongside free family workshops on science, art and family history, with tickets from £4. For a casual weeknight talk, Folk House is the easier trip and you can eat there too. If you want to bring the kids along without paying much, the Bath institution's free workshops are the better bet, and it's step free with accessible toilets throughout. Either way, book ahead, these events tend to have limited seats.
